Use Up Those Last Five Minutes!

Do you ever find yourself in the enviable position of having had a great class? Sure! Everyone does. Every so often the class goes perfectly, heck, better than perfectly and you find that you are actually done with the lessons you had planned for the day. Now given enough time that would be fine. You could just start into what you have planned for the beginning of class the next day.

However, what do you do when you find that your lass has finished everything and there are five minutes or a little less left? How do you fill a small gap like that with meaningful learning?

Use the Power of Vocabulary. Use the vocabulary approach I taught you in an earlier post (search for Power Vocabulary). You can relearn, reinforce, or reteach important vocabulary in the last couple of minutes of the class. The kids can pack up and be ready to go, but you are covering something with them that is important and useful. Have them teach each other, and wow, that was a great lesson ender.

Try it and let me know what you think.
