Whole Brain Teaching

So, as you use WBT are you finding that your kids really like it, but they are getting a little slack on staying focused? Not to worry, that is a common problem in any classroom about this time of year. You already have an easy fix for this in the Scoreboard Game.

Get very picky on the way they follow your expectations, and classroom rules. Gig them a point every time, any time that they do not follow through. You should also give them a point when they demonstrate the expected behavior correctly.

Using this approach you can create a ping pong effect back and forth in class. They lose a point they gain a point. Suddenly you will find that they are much more engaged when their is some suspense involved.

It is a simple, and fun way to bring them back to the level of focus you want.
